The 98th Academy Awards took place on 15 March 2026 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, hosted by Conan O’Brien. This year’s ceremony was historic as it introduced the first ever Oscar for Casting, recognising the work of casting directors for the first time in Academy history. 🎭

The Big Winners of the Night

The biggest winner of the night was One Battle After Another, which took home six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and the inaugural Best Casting award.

Sinners followed with four wins, including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan as well as awards for Original Screenplay, Score and Cinematography. Meanwhile Frankenstein dominated the craft categories with three wins, while KPop Demon Hunters secured two awards for Animated Feature and Original Song. Jessie Buckley becomes the first Irish winner of Best Actress in a leading role.

Together, the winners showcased a mix of blockbuster filmmaking, international cinema and bold original storytelling, making the 2026 Oscars one of the most varied ceremonies in recent years. 🎬✨
