This year at Actors Pro Expo, we did more than just exhibit – we launched something created entirely for you.
On Saturday, we officially opened entries to our brand-new self-tape monologue competition.
We were proud to launch it live at the Expo, but this opportunity isn’t limited only to those who attended. If you’re part of the Lucky Break News mailing list, you’re invited to take part as well.
Our competition is built around one simple theme:
LUCK 🍀
Why “LUCK”? 🎬
In an industry that talks endlessly about timing, opportunity and “being in the right place,” we wanted to explore what luck really means to actors.
Is it random?
Is it earned?
Is it preparation meeting opportunity?
Or is it something we create for ourselves?
We’re inviting actors to respond to that question in the best way they know how, through performance.
How It Works 📝
Actors can visit our stand at the Actors Pro Expo or subscribe to our newsletter to take part in our competition.
From sign-up, they’ll have 14 days to:
- ✍️ Find or write an original monologue inspired by the theme “LUCK”
- 🎥 Film their performance (please keep monologue length to a maximum of 60-90 seconds long)
- 📩 Submit by sending a YouTube/Vimeo link to: hello@luckybreaknews.com
DEADLINE: 14th March 2026
What’s at Stake? 🌟
On 21st March 2025, we’ll announce 10 winners, who will receive:
- 📰 An exclusive “In The Spotlight” feature article shared with:
- 10,000+ monthly readers

- 🎯 A complimentary Spotlight CV review from a panel of industry professionals including:

As always, this isn’t about gimmicks. It’s about visibility, momentum, and putting actors in control of their next step.
Actors Pro Expo is about proactive career building and this competition is our contribution to that energy.
Because sometimes luck isn’t something you wait for.
It’s something you create.
It’s something you perform.
It’s something you submit. 🍀
