Paramount+ has officially renewed its British crime drama ‘MobLand’ for a second season, following the show’s wildly successful debut earlier this year. The announcement was made today, June 23, as fans continue to buzz over the series’ explosive season one finale.
Starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren, ‘MobLand’ premiered on March 30, 2025, and quickly became one of the platform’s most-watched originals. According to Paramount+, it delivered the streamer’s biggest global launch to date, racking up over eight million viewers within its first week alone. Critics praised the show’s gritty tone and intense performances—particularly Hardy’s portrayal of family patriarch Harry Harrigan—and season one closed with a dramatic twist that left fans eager for more.
Created by Ronan Bennett and executive produced by Jez Butterworth and Guy Ritchie, ‘MobLand‘ follows the internal and external conflicts of the Harrigan crime family as they navigate power struggles, betrayals, and an evolving criminal underworld. The first season ended with Hardy’s character surviving a violent attack at the hands of his wife, a development that dramatically shifts the power dynamics within the family heading into the next chapter.
Season one’s impressive ensemble was assembled by veteran casting director Nina Gold, whose previous work includes ‘The Crown’ and ‘Game of Thrones’. While Paramount+ has not formally confirmed who will oversee casting for the second season, sources close to the production suggest Gold is expected to return, continuing her role in shaping the show’s signature mix of star power and authentic character work.
Producers have expressed excitement about the show’s future. Jez Butterworth noted that ‘MobLand’ will continue “as long as it fascinates and delights audiences”, hinting that the story arc is far from over. Tom Hardy, who is also involved behind the scenes, has reportedly committed to several more seasons, suggesting that the series is being positioned as a long-term franchise for the streamer.
The entire principal cast is expected to return for season two, including Brosnan, Mirren, Anson Boon and Jack Lowden. With the Harrigan-Stevenson feud at a boiling point and multiple character arcs left unresolved, the next season promises to dive deeper into the murky waters of organized crime, family loyalty, and personal ambition.
While Paramount+ has yet to announce a premiere date for season two, production is expected to begin later this year. Given the show’s massive viewership and strong reception, ‘MobLand’ is poised to remain a flagship title for the platform, cementing its place in the growing roster of prestige international dramas.
