Mickey 17′ debuted at number one, dethroning ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ with a $25.7 million opening. However, while it’s a strong start, the film’s numbers aren’t as high as some might have expected. This is likely due to its polarising reception, some audiences and critics are praising it, while others are less enthusiastic. The mixed reactions may have impacted word-of-mouth buzz, preventing an even bigger launch.

Meanwhile, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ has now dropped to second place, earning $11.8 million this week for a total of $179 million. Though it’s still bringing in solid numbers, its decline suggests it’s losing steam after four weeks. Certainly not a milestone in Marvels/Disney’s Books, but most definitely an improvement on some of their recent cinematic releases.
