The weekly box office results are in for January 31st – 6th February.
At long last we have some new contenders for the number 1 spot at the US Domestic Box Office. ‘Dog Man‘ faces off against ‘Companion’.
‘Dog Man’ a DreamWorks animation, according to IMDb follows ”Dog Man, half dog and half man, as he is sworn to protect and serve as he doggedly pursues the feline supervillain Petey the Cat”. Boasting voices from Pete Davidson (The King of Staten Island), Lil Rel Howery (One of Them Days), Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers) and Billy Boyd (Lord of the Rings), Dogman has retrieved (not our best pun) the number 1 spot. Opening with $39,5m a tally very close to its budget $40m.
‘Companion‘ follows up in 2nd place with a fairly low figure of $11,9m. Starring Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) and Jack Quaid (The Boys) this psychological thriller from Drew Hancock, has received positive reviews upon its debut, though it may have been hindered by its marketing campaign resulting in a low box office performance.
The rest of the table looks as follows:
