As the trailer for the third season dropped on Tuesday (see below), and as anticipation builds for the season premiere on February 16, 2025, we thought it would be an opportune moment to reflect on the series’ journey thus far.
Created by Mike White, this satirical anthology has masterfully dissected the complexities of human nature against the backdrop of opulent resorts, delivering a blend of dark humour and social commentary.
The phenomenal scripts from White, which are peppered with strong characters, family dynamics, intimate relationships and incredible performances thus far from the likes of Jennifer Coolidge, Theo James and Aubrey Plaza; this fabulous concoction makes for addictive viewing.
Before we look forward to the season 3 trailer, let’s look back and remind ourselves of what we’ve seen so far.
Season One: Unmasking Privilege in Paradise

Debuting in July 2021, the inaugural season transported viewers to a luxurious Hawaiian resort.
Over the course of a week, the narrative delved into the lives of affluent guests and the resort’s staff, unraveling themes of privilege, entitlement, and the often unseen labour that sustains luxury.
Standout performances included Jennifer Coolidge as the grief-stricken Tanya McQuoid , Natasha Rothwell as Belinda the empathetic spa manager, and who could forget the insanely hilarious Armond performed by Murray Bartlett, especially the moment when he squats over Shane’s suitcase in his room (if you know you know).
The season’s critical acclaim was underscored by its ten Emmy wins, including Outstanding Limited Series, which we at Lucky Break News felt was utterly deserved.
Season Two: Desire and Deception in Sicily

October 2022 saw the series’ return, this time set against the picturesque landscapes of Sicily.
The second season shifted focus to themes of desire, infidelity, and the intricate dance of power within relationships.
A fresh ensemble cast portrayed characters entangled in webs of deceit and longing, with Aubrey Plaza and Michael Imperioli delivering particularly compelling performances. Other notable names included Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Will Sharpe, Tom Hollander, Leo Woodall, and of course the return of Jennifer Coolidge as she meets her untimely end by falling from the boat, shortly after delivering that iconic line ‘these gays are trying to murder me’.
The season maintained the show’s critical momentum, securing five Emmy Awards and further cementing its place in contemporary television discourse.
Anticipating Season Three: Turmoil in Thailand
The upcoming third installment relocates to Thailand, promising a new array of guests and staff, each harboring secrets poised to unravel.
The recently released trailer offers tantalising glimpses into the forthcoming drama. Notably, Natasha Rothwell reprises her role as Belinda, now eager to learn from the Thai hotel’s spa, suggesting a potential evolution in her character’s journey. The ensemble cast also features Michelle Monaghan, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, and Blackpink’s Lisa, among others.
The narrative hints at escalating tensions, with themes of financial ruin, deception, and rising crime within the resort’s confines. As one character ominously reflects, someone might be “going home in a body bag,” setting the stage for a season rich in suspense and moral complexity, and potentially a shift to something even darker in this season.
As ‘The White Lotus’ continues to explore the interplay of wealth, morality, and human vulnerability, viewers can anticipate another season of sharp wit and thought-provoking storytelling. The series’ evolution from the shores of Hawaii to the cultural tapestry of Thailand underscores its commitment to examining the universal facets of human nature, regardless of setting.
We at Lucky Break News certainly can’t wait for the lust, deceit and murder to unleash in season 3. February 16th can’t come soon enough!
