The weekly Box office results are in for January 3rd -10th. There were no real changes to last week’s standings. Mufasa: The Lion King remains King off the box office (Sorry… couldn’t resist), bringing its Worldwide earnings to a massive $542,838,778 in just over three weeks. It’s hard to gauge if it’ll reach the financial heights of ‘The Lion King’ (2019) which finished with a whopping $1,661,454,403 at the Worldwide Box Office. Perhaps aided by the rising star power of Aaron Pierre (Green Lantern) who voices Mufasa, Disney will undoubtedly be very happy with the success of ‘Mufasa’
‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ secured the second spot at the box office, surpassing $385,656,986 in worldwide earnings. The film continues to perform strongly, attracting a global audience and cementing its place as a major success in the franchise. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has quickly outpaced the box office earnings of the original film and is steadily gaining ground on the impressive total amassed by Sonic the Hedgehog 2. In its 3rd week at the box office with this success, it will be of little surprise if a sequel is greenlit.
